SUSAN G. MORRISON

Susan has practiced education law for over 25 years across the State of Texas. She represented Cosmos Foundation/Harmony Science Academy in establishing its first charter school campus in Austin, Texas and has represented charter schools since 1998. Her experience covers employment law, student discipline, special education, grievances, governance, safety plans, open meetings and public records, plus everything in-between! She delights in keeping people out of trouble, but if they wait too late to ask for help, she works to get them out of legal troubles as well.

Chris has been an attorney in the area of special education for 20 years. He holds a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, a Master’s degree in Behavioral Disabilities form the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor’s degree in education from Vanderbilt University. Prior to becoming an attorney, Chris was the director of a private program serving students with severe disabilities, an assistant principal and a teacher of students with emotional and learning challenges. He is a founding partner of Thompson & Horton, LLP in Houston Texas and was previously a partner in the law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani, also in Houston. His clientele consists of public school districts, private schools and public charter schools throughout Texas. Chris also advocates for his clients on matters of public policy at the state and federal level.
EVELYN N. HOWARD-HAND

Evelyn N. Howard-Hand graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1982 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Deaf Education from Flagler College. Prior to attending law school she taught students aged 3 - 21 with multiple disabilities. She has also taught auditory impaired students of all levels and American Sign Language as a foreign language to hearing students. Prior to joining our firm, she practiced commercial litigation and special education law for several years. Ms. Howard-Hand has served on the Board of Trustees of the Lake Travis Independent School District and is a member of the State Bar of Texas School Law Section and the Austin Bar Association where she served as Chair of the Judicial Affairs Committee. She is admitted to practice by the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas.

Attorney and Counselor at Law Cobby Caputo represents schools in Title VII, Title IX and other civil rights litigation and advises schools on student discipline, student rights, personnel, special education, purchasing, construction and other general counseling. He frequently speaks on school law issues and is an Adjunct Professor in Concordia University’s Graduate School of Education. |
