Carla Silber

Superintendent of Orenda Charter School
Carla is currently the Superintendent of Orenda Charter School (2019), after previously serving as the Assistant Superintendent (2011). Carla’s interest in charter schools was first sparked in 2002 when looking for a better educational fit from her prior ISD teaching experience after relocating to the Austin area. She started teaching middle and high school math and science at NYOS Charter School and quickly became highly involved in developing and growing new programs, including an Advanced Placement Science Program.
Through the mentorship of strong leaders, she was inspired to pursue administration and become a charter school leader. After serving as a teacher leader, campus administrator, board member, and district administrator at NYOS, her talents took her to Orenda Charter School. Carla received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology, minor in Chemistry, and teaching certification from Texas A&M University. She earned her Master’s in Educational Administration, Principal Certification, and Superintendent Certification from Concordia University Texas. Carla and her husband, Eric, are also charter school parents to their two children, Nina and Seth.
